Actually, I should say "Still absurd after all these months."
I want to apologize to anyone following my blog. There has been nothing to follow and I am remiss to those who became regular readers. No excuses. Let's move on.
What absurdities are happening in my world these days? Hmm. It's easier to write what is not absurd. Really.
At the library we have begun so many technical upgrades that I don't have time to write procedures for them all. We have a new photocopier with a self-serve payment machine; a new program for patrons to print from their computers; we now have a debit/credit card machine; and will soon be getting a self-check machine that needs to have an electronic tag stuck onto every item in the library (45,000 items!). Help!
Now--onto HOLIDAYS! Woot!
November 28 is . . . . Make Your Own Head Day
November 29 is . . . . Square Dance Day
November 30 is . . . . Stay At Home Because You're Well Day
Actually, While November 30 claims my favorite spot, November 28 sure has me intrigued. What in the world does "Make Your Own Head" mean? I think that I will claim it for make your own head of beer. That, at least, seems to be the safest interpretation. You are all welcome to come up with your own. However, if you post them, they need to read at a public library! So, keep it clean, everyone!
"Square Dance Day" is so totally nostalgic--Len and I (yes, this is truly absurd) square danced when we lived in Rolla, Missouri. We did our circle lefts and our do-si-dos and our load the boats with great vigor. What a lot of fun that was. Can anyone imagine me in a stiff full circle petticoat and a full circle square dance dress? Any doubters--I have the photos!
Snow in St. Louis, MO and not in Cedar Rapids, IA? What is happening to the world? That is unheard of! Absurd! (You knew I had to get that in there, didn't you?)
Well, I'm back. Hopefully, I will continue on with this absurd thread for y'all. I need to sign off so that I can begin my annual Christmas/New Year's letter.
Absurdly,
Pat
